From Our House to Yours Summer Theatre
The Playhouse is hosting a combination of live and virtual theatre featuring five weekends of high-quality performances in July and August. From home or with friends, audiences will be able to stream four professionally-produced shows for the first time ever from the century-old Playhouse stage to their devices and TVs. In addition, one of the events will be a live, out-door performance staged on the North Terrace of the Playhouse.
This completely new summer lineup, supported by a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, includes full length and one-act play collections. The Playhouse has adapted its admissions to make accessibility more affordable, with a variety of admissions ranging from $10 for a student up to $40 for a Watch Party.
Tickets are now on sale for From Our House to Yours Summer Theatre at The Playhouse at White Lake.
Summer Breeze—A Live Community Concert
With heavy hearts, The Playhouse at White Lake has decided to cancel our live, outdoor concert planned for August 22, titled Summer Breeze. With the advent of Executive Order 2020-160, events with outdoor audiences were decreased by more than half, and as such, we have chosen to provide alternate programming for our audiences.
In the hopes of connecting more often with our patrons in the cooler months ahead, and with the support of a generous sponsorship from the White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, we will be creating a musical series featuring well-known West Michigan musicians, which can be streamed to any device. We apologize for this disappointing news, and we deeply appreciate your understanding during these unprecedented times.
This has been a difficult year for all of us, especially for artists and those who love to support the arts. We want you to know that we are committed to creating new ways to engage with artists and audiences, and we will be here to welcome you back with open arms, when we can once again open our doors to the public. This may mean small, indoor concerts once permitted, or live streamed concerts with little or no in-person audiences, and/ or on-demand performances. You have a creative team working to continue connecting our community, and we appreciate your patience as we find our way.
As we move into the fall, we will be reaching out to musicians and other performers to ask them to participate in providing virtual entertainment through the Playhouse's streaming service. We hope that many of you will be involved, whether as patrons or performers.
Thank you, again, and please know that we truly appreciate your support. Stay safe and healthy and we will be together again soon!
