The Outside Track Scots, Irish, and Cape Breton Fusion of Songs, Tunes, and Stepdance
The Outside Track boasts an award-winning line-up of Ailie Robertson on clarsach (BBC Radio Scotland Young Trad finalist 2007), Norah Rendell on vocals and flute (Canadian Trad Singer of the Year nominee 2008), Fiona Black on accordion (FAME academy bursary recipient 2007), Alan Jordan on guitar, and Sarah-Jane Summers on fiddles (standard and hardanger). Since meeting in Limerick in 2005, their sound has developed into a unique sonic fusion of harp, guitar, and accordion bass accompaniment coupled with intricate interplay between fiddle, flute, and harmony vocals. These “inspired arrangements” draw on diverse material from classic ballads, new songs, self-penned originals and traditional instrumentals from their native countries. Carmichael Heating and Air Conditioning Presents Free Family Movie Night
Based on the book Matilda, by British children's author Roald Dahl, this film moves the setting from the U.K. to the U.S.; otherwise it follows the original closely. Matilda Wormwood (Mara Wilson) is an extremely curious and intelligent little girl who is very different from her low-brow, mainstream parents (Danny DeVito and real-life wife Rhea Perlman), who quite cruelly ignore her. As she grows older, she begins to discover that she has telekinetic powers. Not until a teacher shows her kindness for the first time does she realize that she can use those powers to do something about her sufferings and help her friends as well. Villains from the awful Miss Trunchbull (Pam Ferris), headmistress of her miserable school Crunchem Hall, to her parents and older brother begin to feel her ire. Look for Paul Reubens (aka Pee Wee Herman) in a small part as an FBI agent investigating Matilda's shady father. |

Neil Jacobs is truly a masterful performer on the 12 string acoustic guitar. His own captivating style of playing has been described as "mesmerizing" by the St. Louis Riverfront Times and as "the rockin'est since early Leo Kottke" by the Austin Chronicle. Neil covers the world vibe with music as diverse as Gypsy, World, Balkan Folk, Jazz, Classical, and Modern Fingerstyle, while transforming his 12-string acoustic guitar into his own personal orchestra. Neil draws inspiration from his world travels and experiences, and shares his fascinating stories with his audience.

After selling out their last two performances at the Howmet Playhouse, Echoes of Pink Floyd returns for a spectacular weekend with two different shows, stunning light and laser effects, and a powerful lineup of musicians ready to deliver a rousing performance of classic hits and rarities, as well as a featured performance of The Dark Side Of Oz. Carmichael Heating and Air Conditioning Presents Free Family Movie Night
The Travers children get the attention of their all-business father by bedevilling every new nanny in the Banks household. When Mr. Banks advertises conventionally for another nanny, the kids compose their own ad, asking for someone with a little kindness and imagination. Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews in her screen debut) answers the children's ad by arriving at the Banks home from the skies, parachuting downward with her umbrella. She immediately endears herself to the children. The next day they meet Mary's old chum Bert (Dick Van Dyke), currently employed as a sidewalk artist. Mary, Bert, and the children hop into one of Bert's chalk drawings and learn the nonsense song "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" in a cartoon countryside. Mr. Banks is pleased that his children are behaving better, but he's not happy with their fantastic stories. To show the children what the real world is like, he takes them to his bank. A series of disasters follow which result in his being fired from his job. Mary Poppins' role in all this leads to some moments when it is possible to fear that all her good work will be undone, but like the magical being she is, all her "mistakes" lead to a happy result by the end of the film. |

Nuveen Theatre Workshop presents
Sneak a peak into the "Top Secret Personal Beeswax Journal" of the outspoken and loveable Junie B. Jones. Created by Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, the team that brought you Dear Edwina, comes Junie B. Jones The Musical, a delightful adaptation of four of Barbara Park's best-selling books brought to life in a genuinely comical, and not strictly-for-kids musical developed by TheatreworksUSA. Awaken a young person's desire to read with the sassy little diva Junie B. Jones and her adventures in first grade. Fun for the entire family. This special show sponsored by the Arts Council of White Lake's Nuveen Theatre Workshop, involves the collaboration of talented youth from all over the White Lake Area and beyond. The Outside Track
Ben Bedford delivers intriguing sketches of America, its individuals, their victories and their struggles. Poignant, but never sentimental, Bedford's portrait-like songs capture the vitality of his characters and draw the listener deep into the narratives. With three albums to his credit, his latest album, The Pilot and the Flying Machine, is set to release soon. Often drawing upon history, Bedford's songs have a strong sense of time and place. The songs are rich in sensory detail which allows the listener to hear, see and feel each narrative. "Ben Bedford has proven himself to be a truly inspired and talented storyteller … ." according to Arthur Wood (Maverick). 
Karen & Eric Smith, who are widely known in the area, will grace the Howmet stage with their smooth harmonies, unique covers, and memorable original songs. They have been busy working on a new album that scheduled for a 2016 release date. Their easy banter and sound have drawn large audiences to various venues and the Howmet is pleased to welcome them back to the Howmet Playhouse stage. 
You do not want to miss this concert weekend, especially in such a unique setting!
