The 2012 Theatre Festival Staff
KATIE TRZASKA (Managing Director) has managed the Playhouse since November 2010, but she first joined the Playhouse family as the stage manager for The Woman in Black in July 2009. Katie holds a B.A. in political science, communications, and theater studies from St. Norbert College in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and has been involved in theater for over 12 years. When not at the Playhouse, Katie enjoys traveling across the country and spending time with her wonderful family, friends, and terrific boyfriend Zach. She would like to thank everyone who helps keep the Playhouse alive and well—the community support is what keeps this Grand Old Lady shining!
JASON BERTOIA (Property Master) is excited to make his debut at the Howmet Playhouse as property master and set dresser this season. Jason has been the Musical Theatre Program Director at Western Michigan Christian for the past four years directing Carousel, Bye Bye Birdie, Anything Goes, and Seussical. Jason was the Assistant Director for the private production Full Mouse, Empty Mouse: The Musical in partnership with The Lakeshore Eating Disorders Coalition and has also been involved in Muskegon Civic Theatre starring as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray. His properties credits include: Side by Side by Sondheim, Something’s Afoot, and Doubt. When not spending time in theaters he works for Every Woman’s Place/Webster House Youth Services as a Work/Life Mentor to pregnant and parenting teens.
NANCY ESTOLA (Costume Designer) began her career sewing at the tender age of five AND has been costuming theatre since 1984. She did her first show the summer after her junior year at CMU where she studied Clothing and Textiles. She has costumed large and small shows with actors of all ages including WSCC's productions of Annie, Big River, and Guys on Ice, and Oceana Youth Theatre productions of A Midsummer Nights Dream and Taming of the Shrew where she worked with director Kirsten Kelly. After all these years she felt the leap to the Howmet Playhouse was a due adventure.
ERIC HESTER (Box Office Manager/ Production Assistant) is our Box Office Manager/ Production Assistant for the 2012 season at Howmet Playhouse. He has spent his fair share of time on the Playhouse stage, having performed in Not a Baby Anymore, Schoolhouse Rock Jr., Dragonfest, and Willy Wonka Jr. Eric is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition at Western Michigan University, hoping to study music theory in grad school. He is the son of Richard and Christine Hester and lives in Muskegon.
COLETTE KUFAHL (Graphic Designer), owner of CMYK Grafix Design and an Associate with Rafaill & Associates, LLC, is an experienced graphic designer whose objective is to convey her clients’ unique places in our lives and in our community by developing designs for print and online marketing. Her skills continue to be put to good use for the Playhouse as she designs a variety of items including the summer programs, flyers, posters, and many of the graphic elements used on the Howmet Playhouse website. Colette embraces the opportunity to help preserve and promote our communities' fine arts and the Historic Howmet Playhouse.
SARAH JO MARCINIAK (Production Manager) is a newcomer to the Howmet Playhouse this year. She received her BA in Theatre Production from Ball State University and this is her first foray into the world of professional theatre. She has directed two productions, Silence and F.M., and has assisted for many others, including Macbeth, Noises Off!, and Almost, Maine and has been an undergrad co-director in the ACTF 10 Minute Play competition. Sarah hails from Valparaiso, Indiana, but hopes to soon be making her way in the big city.
CHRISTIAN MIKKELSEN (Technical Director), a rising Junior at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, is glad to be working with the Howmet Playhouse for their summer season. Past credits include Rent, Next to Normal, Time Stands Still, The Whipping Man, and Hair. Thanks to all friends and family that have helped me get to this point in my life and, with a little luck, a whole lot further.

WILLIAM S. RAFAILL (Webmaster) has been the webmaster for the Howmet Playhouse since the spring of 2007. He and his wife, Barbara, have a cottage in Stony Lake and have been enjoying the western shore of Michigan and all that it offers, including the Playhouse, since the mid 1980s. Bill is CEO, CFO, COO, and all those other "O's" for his own company, Rafaill & Associates, LLC. He specializes in website development, graphic design, and technology training. He is pleased to do all that he can to promote the Grand Old Lady, the Howmet Playhouse.
