The Playhouse at White Lake is holding auditions for White Lake Youth Theatre's production of Sleepy Hollow, a spooky autumnal musical with stage roles for ages 8 to 13, and select technical support roles for ages 13 to 18.
AUDITION DATES
- Saturday, August 22nd from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM (Please plan on staying the entire time)
- Call Backs, Sunday August 23rd from 2:00 to 3:30 PM
REHEARSAL DATES
- Rehearsals will be held August 24th through October 8th
- most Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:00 PM
- and Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM

ABOUT THE SHOW
This original script is a spooky and cozy retelling of the classic tall tale by Washington Irving. Have you ever heard the story of Ichabod Crane or the Headless Horseman?!? Find out what happens to the quiet town of Sleepy Hollow when Ichabod Crane becomes the new schoolteacher and shakes everything up! This show has 8 main roles and many ensemble roles with lines, singing, dancing, and puppetry. We will find you a great role that is just right for you!

Every student who registers for the show by completing the registration form is guaranteed a role. Video Auditions will be accepted, and are due by August 20th. You can upload them to the registration form.
This is a full commitment for the run of the production, and no pre-approved absences can be allowed outside of illness or emergency, for the success of the show and enjoyment of all involved. Thank you for understanding the commitment required for involvement.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR AUDITIONS
Remember that the audition begins the moment you enter the space. We are looking for students that are kind to others, have a good attitude, and are willing to learn. Acting skills are great, but our most important goal is creating a kind and compassionate community— help us do this by being kind to yourself and others.
What to Prepare for Acting Wear clothes that are easy to move in, a water bottle, and a willingness to make big, silly and scary choices as you embody the characters. You will not need to memorize anything in advance. If sending in a video audition, please tape yourself while reading these lines:
- "Ghosts are bad, but the one that's cursed Is the Headless Horseman, he's the worst"
- "Ichy, you sly old dog, you! What is this strange power you have over women? Well, tonight's the night, boy! Just turn on the old charm."
- "In the dark shadow of the grove, on the margin of the brook, he beheld something huge, misshapen, black, and towering."
- "Since you're both here...perhaps you can help me. I can't decide which pumpkin belongs in the Harvest Ball. Would either of you care to convince me?"
What to Prepare for Music If auditioning in person, we will have short sections of songs from the show prepared for you, so all you'll need is your water bottle and your lovely voice! Remember, the goal is for us to have FUN while we sing together and you'll have an opportunity to sing solo if you're interested in a soloist role. That water bottle will come in handy to keep the voice nice and hydrated :) If sending in a video audition, please tape a 1 minute video of yourself singing along with your favorite Halloween themed song (anything about monsters, pumpkins, the moon … get creative!). It can be a karaoke track from YouTube in the background or the original song: just make sure it's something you enjoy singing and allows you to show us what you got!
