Yoga Guide Gentle Yoga classes for the spring will end June 17. Yoga will then be on hold for the Summer Theatre Festival, and will return after Labor Day. »9:30 AM Wednesdays »9:30 AM Fridays Class fee is $10 and may be paid by cash, check, PayPal, or Venmo to the teacher guiding each session, with no advance registration required. A portion of the proceeds benefit the White Lake Youth Theatre. Arrive early to sign in and settle in on your first session.
| Gentle Yoga in a Cozy Community
Treat yourself to a luxurious hour of breath work, mindful movement and guided imagery for deep relaxation in our White Lake Cozy Community. Warm up the body with deliciously stretchy movement on the spine designed to build flexibility and shake out excess energy, then enter into a fully balanced, mobility minded practice before eventually settling into deep restoration at the conclusion of our sessions. Welcoming fully vaccinated (shots plus booster) students, this class will combine functional movement, traditional Hatha, slow Vinyasa, Yin and Restorative postures to leave you feeling both accomplished and relaxed. By request, our Gentle Yoga series has been designed to create a Cozy Community amid the continued pandemic by providing a certain level of comfort for interested students in knowing that those practicing around them are protected, and in doing so, adding an additional layer of ease for those who have been hesitant to return to an in-studio, in-person practice. For your first session, please bring proof of vaccination, and wear your mask indoors until seated at your mat. You only need to show proof of vaccination once. All levels appropriate. Feel free to wear layers for comfort. Please bring your mat and any props you like, as none will be available on site. | A Murder Mystery Presented by the White Lake Youth Theatre
Directed by Alexxander Evergreen The Palace Theatre actors are just getting ready to rehearse the final scene for their latest production, "I Ain't Got No Body," when they run into a snag. The director who wrote the play is found dead onstage. Lois is shocked into an allergy attack! Ava faints! Luther orders a pizza! There's a lot of disbelief among the troupe until it becomes quite evident that Dexter Allan has, indeed, shuffled off this mortal coil. Not only that, he owed several of the actors a lot of money. "I know you can't take it with you," Gordon moans, "but apparently you can take somebody else's!" And then Frances dies! Only she doesn't really die. And then the pizza kid shows up. Only he really isn't the pizza kid. The one thing they all are sure of is their director is dead … or is he? Timothy accuses Gordon! Glenda accuses Dana! Luther can't figure out where his pizza is. And baby-faced detective Jimmy Todd has to put together all the clues. Maybe, thinks Jimmy, there are clues in the play they are producing. After all, Dexter wrote it. Was he trying to leave a hint? Or was he murdered for what was in that missing final scene? Clues intermingle with unveiled threats as cast member turns against cast member. Who heard Dexter's final words? Who kept threatening him for all to hear? And just when is Luther going to get his pizza anyway? Family Friendly Movie Night—Queen of Katwe
In 2012, a book was published about Mutesi titled The Queen of Katwe: A Story of Life, Chess, and One Extraordinary Girl's Dream of Becoming a Grandmaster and authored by Tim Crothers. The arts leadership branch of the Playhouse, the White Lake Youth Theatre Council, is hosting their first-ever talent show. Open to all members of our community, this event is meant to offer an afternoon of fun and excitement while displaying the many talents of individuals and groups in our area. Your Clean Comedy Time Comics are: Maher Matta Maher has performed at comedy clubs and venues across the country. His style revolves around story telling about his childhood, marriage, kids, and observations on day-to-day life. With a diverse sense of humor, Maher’s comedy appeals to all audiences and comedic tastes. Maher’s comedy special, Personally Speaking, ranked number four with Dry Bar Comedy’s “Top Ten Specials for 2021.” Maher’s natural delivery and timing makes him a comedian you don’t want to miss. David Steves David is a high energy, good natured divorcee who brings light and humor to his single-dad life. As a Veteran of the US Army, David finds humor can keep engagement high even in the toughest of times. With a unique relatability, even as a late-bloomer in the comedy community, David relies on his personal stories from childhood, deployments, and raising two amazing daughters. David has featured at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle, performed at LaughFest, and is a co-host of the Good Vs. Evil Podcast. Rebecca Concepcion Rebecca Concepcion has been a stand up comedian for the past 10 years, and runs a twice-monthly comedy showcase in Detroit. She’s a proud graduate of the Second City Detroit training program, and loves coffee, travel, reading, and her daughter, in that order. Aaron Sorrels Known as the unemployed alcoholic, Aaron helps people laugh while sharing his story of recovery, faith, and finding purpose. He is the cofounder and cohost of Clean Comedy Time, the cohost of the Well MetaVersed Podcast, and the world creator of the soapstone comedy club in Horizon Worlds (the metaverse). Brian Atkinson Brian Atkinson is a comedian, all-around nice guy, and a horrible person. His good guy persona often gives way to surprising twists that will keep you laughing. Michigan Mandolin Orchestra
As all good mandolin orchestras go, a hefty helping of Italian light classical and folk music is served with Nostalgia di Mandolini, Funiculi Funicula, Sorriso di Bambola, and Suite Marinaresca. A set of O’Carolan tunes are played in medley and the Orchestra will rock out with Led Zepplin’s Kashmir. The contemporary music of brilliant composers Igor Stravinsky and Dmitri Shostakovich will be heard with Concerto in D for Strings and the Allegretto Polka from the ballet, The Golden Age, respectively. Small ensembles and solo pieces are common at an MMO concert so expect to hear these chamber jewels. A highlight for the MMO and their audience will be the appearance of guest conductor and Michigan luminary, David Bass. In the distant future, a small waste-collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind. WALL-E, short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class, is the last robot left on Earth. He spends his days tidying up the planet, one piece of garbage at a time. But during 700 years, WALL-E has developed a personality, and he's more than a little lonely. Then he spots EVE, a sleek and shapely probe sent back to Earth on a scanning mission. Smitten WALL-E embarks on his greatest adventure yet when he follows EVE across the galaxy. 
Living in Katwe, a slum in Kampala, Uganda, is a constant struggle for 10-year-old Phiona, her mother Nakku Harriet, and her younger family members. She and her younger brother help their mother sell maize in the market. She also helps care for her baby brother. Her world changes the day she meets Robert Katende at a missionary program. Katende coaches soccer and teaches children to play chess at a local center. Curious, Phiona visits the center, learns the game, and becomes fascinated with it. She becomes a top player in the group under Katende's guidance.
